Our family business was founded on doing things differently. We believe that running a business is about far more than making money. It's about maintaining a culture that cares about people. It's about giving back to a community that has given us so much. It's about doing what we think is right, even if it's not reflected in the bottom line.
Like many families in our town, our employee family has had its share of grief and our clients have weathered all kinds of storms under our unpredictable Texas skies. And yet, all of these experiences have brought us together and made us a stronger community.
To honor some of those we've lost, we host an annual golf tournament to fund scholarships for students in need. Over the past 22 years, we have distributed 235 scholarships totaling more than $625,000. My father and I also host an endowed scholarship for students at the Baylor School of Business, and our employees are very active in charitable organizations such as the MS 150 and Relay for Life. In 2006, we were honored to receive “The Workplace Hero” award from the American Red Cross. Truly one of our proudest moments.
So, even as we look forward to the future, we'll never forget that our people have made us who we are today. We'll keep growing the independent spirit our business was founded on without compromising the hometown values that make our company special. But most of all, we look forward to making you a part of our family, too.
All the best,
Robert K. Nitsche, President and CEO
